Advantages, disadvantages and applications of piezoelectric pressure transducer

There are some advantages of piezoelectric pressure transducer which are given below,

• Rugged construction and small size.
• Excellent frequency response.
• High output with negligible phase shift.

There are some disadvantages of piezoelectric pressure transducer which are given below,

• Piezoelectric crystals are water soluble. Hence in a high humidity environment gets dissolved.
• It can be used for dynamic measurement only.
• Temperature sensitive.

There are some applications of piezoelectric pressure transducer which are given below,

• It is used for measurement of non electrical quantities such as acceleration, vibration sound intensity and dynamic pressure.
• It is used in ultrasonic, non-destructive test equipments, ultrasonic flow meters, micro motion actuators.
• It is used in spark ignition engines.
