What is modern survey method

  • In olden types surveying works, conventional instruments such as taps to measure distance, use of a prismatic compass to measure the horizontal angles, use of dumpy level to find the elevation between the points on the earth’s surface were used.
  • These instruments are used even today, although to a lesser extent.
  • This is because all these instruments are mechanically operated with certain calibration or graduations to take readings.
  • Therefore, these are time-consuming and are less accurate as well. Due to developing, well modified, advanced and modern electronic technology it is now possible to do the surveying work with more accuracy and precision with ease and less time.
  • Different types of electronic equipment like EDM, digital theodolite, auto levels, digital planimeter are invented and are now made available which quick and more precise in working in the surveying field.
