Advantages, disadvantages and applications of CDMA (code division multiple access)

There are some important advantages of CDMA (code division multiple access) are given below,

  • The CDMA does not require any synchronization.
  • It has more number of users can share the same bandwidth.
  • It is well-matched with other cellular technologies.
  • Due to codeword allocated to each user, interference is reduced.
  • Efficient practical utilization of fixed frequency spectrum.

There are some disadvantages of CDMA (code division multiple access) are given below,

  • The system is more complicated.
  • Guard band and guard time both are required to be provided.
  • As the number of users increases, the overall quality of services decreases.

There are some important applications of CDMA (code division multiple access) are given below,

  • It is used in military and some commercial application.
  • It is used in mobile communication.
  • It is used in radar and navigation systems.
