Belt drive is used when distance between driving shaft and driven shaft is more. Gear drive is used when distance between driven and driving shaft is less.
Due to the sleep laser velocity ratio is obtained. Due to number of slip velocity ratio obtained is higher.
Suitable for moderate power transmission. Suitable for higher power transmission.
In belt drive lubricant not required. In gear drive lubrication required.
It is less noisy operation. It is more noisy operation.
It is less costly. It is more costly.
It is easy to manufacture. It is difficult to manufacture.
