There  are some important functions of operating systems are given below,

  • The operating system is provides security and information protection.
  • It is manages the processor by scheduling among different program or user.
  • The operating system interfaces like constant application program.
  • It manages the memory between different program and user.
  • The operating systems organizes the file storage i.e. file management.
  • The operating system serves allocation and reallocation in memory.
  • It is responsible for managing input /output devices connected to computer.
  • The operating system allows computer system resources to be used in an efficient manner.
  • Execution of users program is also carried out by operating system by allocating the required resources.
  • When we connect the device drive to a computer, the operating system controls it.
